- The contribution of Linde to ALRIGH2T Project centres on developing a prototype system for the rapid transfer of liquid hydrogen (LH2).
ALRIGH2T strives to be a reference in the transportation sector by effectively achieving the project’s objectives with a positive outcome and maximizing its impact. For this purpose, ALRIGH2T has a broad consortium of 21 members, including Linde, one of our esteemed partners, which has the largest liquid hydrogen capacity and distribution system in the world.
The company operates the world’s first high-purity hydrogen storage cavern, coupled with an unrivalled pipeline network of approximately 1,000 kilometres to reliably supply its customers. With close to 200 hydrogen refuelling stations and 80 hydrogen electrolysis plants worldwide, Linde is at the forefront of the energy transition.
Linde, towards a rapid liquid hydrogen transfer system
Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company with 2023 sales of $33 billion. The company serves a variety of end markets such as chemicals & energy, food & beverage, electronics, healthcare, manufacturing, metals and mining.
Their industrial gases and technologies are used in countless applications including production of clean hydrogen and carbon capture systems critical to the energy transition, life-saving medical oxygen and high-purity & specialty gases for electronics. Additionally, Linde delivers state-of-the-art gas processing solutions to support customer expansion, efficiency improvements and emissions reductions.
“We live our mission of making our world more productive every day by providing high-quality solutions, technologies and services which are making our customers more successful and helping to sustain, decarbonize and protect our planet”, Linde.
In the context of the ALRIGH2T project, the goal of Linde is to develop a prototype system for the rapid transfer of liquid hydrogen (LH2). Such a pump system is an enabler for fast and efficient refuelling of LH2 airplanes but serves various other use cases in the LH2 distribution chain as well.
Collaboration with EU initiatives and good practices
As the project progress, the ALRIGH2T partners are actively involved in several European initiatives, clusters, and associations, helping to position the project among the leading efforts in civil aviation. Linde is an active partner in various European projects, with a focus that aligns closely with the key elements of the ALRIGH2T project.
Among others, the company is involved in the projects HyInHeat and HyTecHeat which target is to reduce CO2 emissions in industrial heating processes generally and in steel production specifically by using hydrogen as energy carrier. Additionally, they are involved in the project HARARE. The objective is to recover metals and minerals from metallurgic waste by using hydrogen as reducing agent.
Last but not least, Linde and its partners develop standardized hydrogen quality sampling and analysis methodologies to increase the reliability of hydrogen refueling stations in the EU project HyQuality.
All of Linde’s accumulated experience in European projects, coupled with its role as a key player in hydrogen supply will be highly beneficial to the development of the ALRIGH2T project.
