- The ALRIGH2T joins the session on “Hydrogen Powered Aviation: Ongoing Projects and Technological Pathways” and hosts a stand at the Grand Hotel Quisisana.
The European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Conference (EFCH2) is entering its final stretch before taking place from 17 to 19 September at the Grand Hotel Quisisana, located in the historic centre of Capri, Italy. The final programme covers three full days, combining plenary debates, parallel sessions, and networking opportunities. Throughout the event, more than 34 parallel sessions will bring together leading voices from research, industry, and policymaking to engage in high-level dialogue.
On the morning of 17 September, the conference opens with a plenary session that will explore the challenges of hydrogen innovation and market development from two complementary perspectives: “Shaping the Future of Hydrogen Innovation” and “Unlocking the Hydrogen Market – What’s Missing?”. This open, cross-sectoral exchange will seek to identify the main enablers of a functioning hydrogen economy, from innovation and investment to regulation, market design, and strategic alliances.
As main sponsor of the conference, the ALRIGH2T project will take part in a parallel session on 19 September from 9:00 to 11:00, together with partners from ATENA. The consortium will also be present with a dedicated stand, showcasing different projects and exchanging progress, insights, and ideas.
Joint session: ALRIGH2T, GOLIAT, and HASTA projects
The ALRIGH2T project, together with the EU-funded projects GOLIAT and HASTA, has organised and will participate in a joint session on 19 September, within Session 7a in the Teatro Room. The session, titled “Hydrogen-Powered Aviation: Ongoing Projects and Technological Pathways”, will run from 09:00 to 11:00 and feature five contributions, covering diverse perspectives:
- Scenarios for Operational and Techno-Economic Analysis of the Hydrogen Value Chain for Aviation – Timo Schelm, Leibniz University Hannover.
- The Impact of GH₂ Infrastructure and Market Development on Optimal LH₂ Supply Strategies for Aviation – Timo Schelm, Leibniz University Hannover.
- Hydrogen Integration in Commercial Aviation: Technical and Operational Analysis at Malpensa Airport – Andrea Altomonte, Atena Scarl / University of Naples Parthenope.
- HASTA – Hydrogen Aircraft Sloshing Tank Advancement – Antonio Agresta, ENEA.
- Last-Mile Delivery of H₂ to Airports: A Schiphol Case Study – Espen Flo Bødal, SINTEF Energy Research.
“This session perfectly reflects the mission of our conference: to bridge science, industry, and policy in ways that turn bold visions into real-world solutions. Initiatives like ALRIGH2T show how collaboration and innovation can accelerate the journey toward a sustainable energy future” concluded Viviana Cigolotti, the project coodinator of ALRIGH2T and Chairman of the EFCH2 2025 Conference.

During the three-day conference, the ALRIGH2T project will also host a dedicated stand. The space will feature not only ALRIGH2T but also the EU-funded projects ACHIEVE and H2IF, in which Zabala Innovation is a consortium partner, leading dissemination and communication activities and supporting management tasks.
All three projects focus on advancing hydrogen technologies or climate-neutral innovations, aiming to move from research and innovation toward real-world deployment. They gather multi-stakeholder consortia to co-design and demonstrate solutions that contribute to the EU’s climate neutrality goals.
- ALRIGH2T focuses on demonstrating liquid hydrogen (LH₂) ground refuelling solutions for airports—promoting LH₂ aviation infrastructure and supporting hydrogen’s role in decarbonizing aviation.
- H2IF aims to scale-up mature Horizon 2020 projects in hydrogen and energy storage, validating the transition from R&I to deployment with support from the Innovation Fund—thus advancing hydrogen technologies toward commercialization.
- ACHIEVE, although broader in scope, contributes to net-zero goals by enhancing integrity and impact of voluntary climate actions, including those in hydrogen and related climate mitigation, thereby supporting the hydrogen sector’s credibility and acceptance
Conference attendees are warmly invited to visit the stand throughout the event. Representatives from Zabala Innovation and the ALRIGH2T consortium, Ana Báscones and María Yáñez, will be available to discuss the innovations underway, explore synergies with other projects, and share experiences to foster collaboration.
